An amazing Tefillin experience – for the whole family
What excitement it is to see the son putting on Tefillin! What excitement it is to know that he is putting on Tefillin that you are the ones who brought their parshiot into the houses, and sewed them! How much are we willing to invest in our son putting on Tefillin, day after day, with joy?
This is exactly the purpose of the tefillin experience. The Tefillin experience is a powerful and connecting experience that will accompany your son throughout his life.
In the Tefillin experience:
- Tefillin houses are in various stages of production.
- Run the computer program to check the STaM
- Experimenting with writing on parchment with quill and ink
- Reading the verses of your Tefillin
- Towards the end of the experience, you, the father (and grandfather), put the Tefillin sections into the houses and sew them up.
The responses indicate a spiritual experience full of interest and enjoyment, and the impact of the experience, both in adhering to the commandments of Tefillin and in preserving them. As they wrote to us:
Hannah - Tal Menashe
"Thank you for a sublime experience, which made me regret that our eldest did not go through it"
Tal Arnon - Shoham
"The experience we had was an extraordinary one, a must-do for every Bar Mitzvah boy. Beyond the spiritual process and the magical journey, we met a charming, professional, welcoming person with a lot of patience, who gave me and my children an amazing experience while fully explaining the process of making tefillin and its meaning, and fully sharing the highlights of Jewish tradition. An extraordinary experiential journey, we enjoyed every second."
Yamit Gamliel - Moshav Achihud
"The word "experience" belies the true value of what we went through. An experience is a one-time thing and something fleeting. Here we can say that we went through a process of learning, deepening, expanding our knowledge, and a true connection of ourselves as parents and certainly of our son to this important mitzvah. We received real added value that made the entire process more meaningful. Great blessings to Rabbi Menachem and dear Idit."
Hani Barkai - Ali
"We wanted to thank you for the exciting and powerful tefillin experience we had with you. We didn't know what to expect, we arrived, and there are simply no words... In addition to the very significant knowledge, our son (and we too) received something much more significant and important - we received a sense of belonging and connection to tefillin..."
How did the Tefillin experience at the center come about?
Rabbi Menachem Goldberg, who taught for years in various shivites and educational institutions, began learning to write satam out of a desire to write tefillin for his eldest son. Only after a few years did writing satam become his main occupation. When his eldest son reached the age of mitzvot, he wrote the tefillin sections for him.
It was a special experience. His son followed the writing, was moved, and the impact on him was obvious. After writing, Rabbi Menachem looked for a place where his son could also experience the introduction of the parshiot into the houses, and their closing, and found a person who introduced parshiot into the houses who invited them to participate in the introduction. To Rabbi Menachem's surprise, his son was disappointed because "we only watched the introduction of the parshiot into the houses."
Following the disappointment, he learned the craft of bringing the parshiot into homes, and for his second son he already had an experience, in which he combined practical knowledge with halakhic knowledge while using his educational abilities. His wife, who participated in the experience, came away full of knowledge and enjoyment, and urged him to offer the experience to every boy who purchases tefillin. "It is important that every Bar Mitzvah boy receive this experience."
He started doing experiences, and the enthusiastic responses made him deepen the experience, and grant it to every boy who purchases tefillin from us (some come just for the experience).
