Workshops and father-son evenings

for Yeshivahs and schools

At Kish'rey Tefillin, we connect the boys to the commandments of tefillin and the holy objects that have accompanied the people of Israel since the dawn of its existence, through an experiential and enjoyable workshop, and fathers and sons evenings.

There are workshops suitable for a variety of ages, including around receiving the Torah, studying Tractate Minachot, Shavuot... and of course - our flagship activity, aimed at the Bar Mitzvah year - Fathers and Sons Evenings and workshops dealing with tefillin.

In the tefillin workshop, you see, hold, touch, and experiment, in an atmosphere full of curiosity and interest. In father-son evenings, you learn about tefillin together with the parents through shared study and fascinating and active conversation. It is possible to combine workshops for students and father-son evenings with the parents.

What are the different activities?
  • A variety of table displays.
  • A fascinating lecture accompanied by a presentation.
  • See the test software.
  • Holding and observing Tefillin sections at various levels (in Tefillin workshops)
  • Holding and observing mezuzot (in the STaM workshop).
  • Opportunity to experiment with writing with quill and ink on parchment.
  • Possibility to experiment with increasing and decreasing the knot size of a head (four and square)

Questions we are usually asked:
  • Can you elaborate a little more on the Keshri Tefillin Educational Center?

The educational Satam center "Kesheri Tefillin" is located in Tal Menashe. At Tefillin, we place a strong emphasis on combining halakhic elegance with the educational aspect, and on the connection to the commandments of tefillin and the world of Satam. The connection to the commandments of tefillin and Satam is created through high-level experiential and collaborative activities. We conduct personal tefillin experiences, father-son evenings, and workshops in schools and in various settings.

  • Who conducts the workshops?

The workshops are conducted by Rabbi Menachem Goldberg, head of the center. Rabbi Goldberg taught for many years in yeshivot, including high school yeshivot. In the workshops, Rabbi Menachem combines high-level Torah knowledge, years of experience in writing satam, and a fascinating ability to convey - all this together with maximum utilization of the technological capabilities and various refinements that we have gained in our generation.

  • STEM workshop

In the Satam workshop, we see before our eyes the importance of connecting the children-teenagers before us to the Torah scroll, the commandments of the mezuzah and tefillin. The workshops offer a fascinating combination of learning and experience. "The workshops were fascinating, and enriched the students with their knowledge of the process of making tefillin, and the writing process of a Sofer Satam. The workshop is very experiential, and strengthens the children's connection to our heritage. Rabbi Menachem conveys it in a pleasant way, and communicates well with the students. I highly recommend the workshop." Keren Froelich, Educational Director, Yad Yaakov Foundation There are a variety of workshops for a variety of ages and with a variety of emphases, from workshops in preparation for receiving the Torah scroll, to workshops in small and high yeshivahs, around studying Tractate Minachot, and the laws of writing Satam. It is possible to combine a classroom workshop, and a father-son evening for joint study with the parents.

  • Tefillin workshop

In the Tefillin workshop, we connect the boys to the Tefillin commandment, through fascinating learning and experience. The activity includes: a table with various exhibits, a fascinating conversation accompanied by a presentation, a writing workshop During the workshop: Learn about Tefillin in an experiential and fascinating way. See the test program. Hold open Tefillin houses. Observe Tefillin parsiyas at different levels. Experience writing on parchment with a quill and ink, while explaining the writing method. Are exposed to a sample of the laws of the Hastm "It was important to me that the students meet closely with the Tefillin, touch them with their hands and see what the Tefillin look like inside and out... It was an experience for the students, to get to know more closely and more deeply, the important mitzvah that they are going to take upon themselves this year. • Fathers and sons' nights

Fathers and Sons' Evening is an activity that connects parents and children, around a joint study of tefillin. The evening usually begins with the arrival of the parents and an Arabic tefillin, while at the same time a table of interesting exhibits is laid. Later, the parents and their son learn together from a shared and intriguing study sheet. Then everyone concentrates on a fascinating reading accompanied by a presentation, during which they hold tefillin sections at different levels. Finally, there is time for questions. At the end of the evening, at the invitation of the school, an experiment can be held in writing or in increasing and decreasing the knot of a head. The speaker touched on: Why is the sofer called a "sofer" (and not a writer)? What are the laws of writing? What are goyil, tag, intention and other concepts from the world of writing? What is the difference in writing between Torah scrolls and tefillin and mezuzot? "A fascinating lecture... creates a lot of interest in the children... a lot of knowledge... even though there were judges and rabbis there with great knowledge, and the students also had a high Torah level, it gave everyone something..." (Rabbi Ofer T.T. Yad Binyamin)

Bar Mitzvah event with Kish'rey Tefillin

When we arrive at your Bar Mitzvah event, each guest is personally introduced to the tefillin.

You hold open tefillin houses, observe tefillin parshiot, experiment with writing (subject to the hall's consent), are exposed to the testing software, and more...

The Bar Mitzvah event includes a meeting with a Sofer Satam, an educator, and allows you to dive into the world of Satam in a fascinating and enjoyable way.

The activity is accompanied by a presentation.

* When combining the purchase of tefillin and a personal experience with a Bar Mitzvah event, the Bar Mitzvah boy participates in conducting the workshop. When the Bar Mitzvah boy conducts (jointly with the professional, who is also an educator) a workshop for guests out of knowledge and confidence, he is empowered, and connects to the tefillin in a deep connection. The workshop is also suitable for the first putting on of tefillin, for the Bar Mitzvah with friends, and for a Bar Mitzvah trip.
